Justin Julson

MA, LPCC

I offer a warm and collaborative approach that honors your unique journey and lived experiences. We will work together to explore your challenges, uncover unconscious patterns, and release unresolved emotional pain so you can live more authentically. I believe that when we improve our relationship with ourselves and the world around us, we become more flexible and can move through life with a greater sense of purpose and ease.

My work focuses on understanding and appreciating how past experiences have influenced how we relate to ourselves and others. Due to trauma and adversity, parts of us may hold onto rigid ways of being and moving through the world. I support clients in processing emotional pain, resolving internal conflict and breaking free from stuck patterns, so they can cultivate inner peace and a stronger connection to their true selves. My work also focuses on supporting clients in challenging and unpacking social pressures and internalized expectations.

My therapeutic approach integrates psychodynamic, relational, emotionally focused, somatic, attachment-based, mindfulness, existential and anti-oppressive frameworks. I work with individuals navigating relational trauma, shame, self-esteem concerns, anxiety, depression, grief and loss, existential questions, and attachment-related challenges.

Originally from western Wisconsin, I’ve called Saint Paul home since 2012. I  have a bachelor's degree in Exercise Science from Winona State University and earned a master’s degree from Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota in Counseling and Psychological Services in 2023. My professional background includes work in health and wellness spaces, outpatient substance use treatment, medically assisted treatment (MAT), case management, and outpatient mental health settings. These experiences have greatly influenced my holistic and systemic perspective.

Outside of the clinic, I enjoy spending time with family, biking, reading, and cultivating my spirituality. I also enjoy getting up early to sit quietly with a hot cup of coffee.
